GDPR POLICY – PROTECTION OF PERSONAL DATA

Personal data protection (GDPR) refers to the personal information that we collect, store and distribute. This document represents the GDPR policy of the psychologist Pompilia Bianca Gordon.
WHAT DATA WE COLLECT: As psychologists, we collect a multitude of personal data. We collect this data in order to fulfill our mission as therapists and in order to treat patients. We collect information from the first contact (email, phone, website, skype) and continue throughout all our meetings. The data we can collect includes: name, address, date of birth, gender (or identity), telephone, SMS, WhatsApp, email, family doctor’s name, occupation, medical history relevant to therapy, current and past medication, diagnosis and psychological history, lifestyle, risk factors including suicide, drugs, alcoholism, etc.
STORAGE OF INFORMATION: We have implemented measures that ensure that your data is kept safe. We store information using the methods below:
Paper – notes written during therapy and email. We can include here a short summary of the therapy sessions. They are kept in locked metal cabinets.
Phone/Smartphone – here we store contact details (phone) under a unique ID different from your real name
Email/SMS/WhatsApp – Your email address is stored in our email account. The phone number may be stored so that the therapist can contact you via SMS/WhatsApp but it will be stored as a unique ID different from your real name
Website – website stores your contact details if you use a form to contact us. Your personal data will be stored as long as you are our patient.
Skype – If you call or leave a message on Skype, it will be stored in the office’s Skype account. Skype is a GDPR compliant service. Messages are deleted after they are listened to
Other electronic media (including computer, laptop, smartphone, external hard disk) in which we keep your data are protected by passwords.
PROCESSING AND DISTRIBUTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION: All the information you provide is treated confidentially and is only shared at your request (for example with your family doctor). The only exception is when there is a risk of (physically) hurting someone or yourself. Even then, I will only share the information strictly related to this risk. If we consider it necessary, we will distribute information – under the law and only to the competent authorities without your consent (for example, we suspect a terrorist activity).
Other doctors (psychologists, therapists, generalists). There is a possibility that you would like us to keep your doctor(s) up to date on the evolution of the psychological treatment. This may include diagnosis, treatment, therapeutic progress or other medical reports. We will discuss on a case-by-case basis to determine exactly what we can transmit. You must take into account that the doctors to whom you choose to transmit the data must comply with the GDPR rules to protect this information.
Deletion of information. At the end of the therapeutic process, we will keep your data for another seven years – in accordance with legal regulations. We can use this information for the purpose of your future treatment, if necessary. After this period we will destroy written documents using a secure document destruction service and delete all information held electronically.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us.
We reserve the right to change our GDPR policy at any time. If you are our client, we will inform you in writing about any change using the agreed contact method
